GST was introduced in Malaysia on 01 April 2015 and is applicable to the supply of most products and services. GST being a value added tax mechanism is purely based when a Tax invoice is generated which in turn leads to accurate accounting entries and GST reports, especially for claiming the eligible input tax. In Malaysia, the GST system is quite complex given that there are twenty four (24) different Tax codes and numerous specialized industry situations. It is therefore very important for the accounting community to understand fully the accounting entries that accurately reflect the GST position of the company. The program consists of six (6) modules beginning with the origins and objectives of GST followed by a module on the various GST categories and Tax codes. The next three (3) modules focuses on the detailed accounting entries, control processes and reporting. The final module is preparing students for an audit by Custom`s.
